Happy Labor Day

Labor Day has always felt like the unofficial last day of summer to me. Maybe it’s because I remember when the new school year didn’t begin until the Tuesday after Labor Day—summer actually lasted through summer! Now school starts somewhere in the middle of it. But there’s still something about Labor Day weekend that feels like one last chance to soak up summer before we start looking ahead to cooler days, changing leaves, and all the things I love about fall.

Today, though, is really about celebrating the hardworking people who keep our communities moving and make places like Hickory such a wonderful place to call home. Whether you’re firing up the grill, spending time with others, squeezing in one last summer adventure, or doing absolutely nothing—and enjoying every minute of it—I hope you have a safe, happy, and well-deserved Labor Day!

Warmly,
Lora
